Mrs Laurentia Mallam, the Minister of Environment,
on Friday urged youths to behave responsibly during
the conduct of the general elections slated for
Saturday.
Mallam made the appeal at the end of a Unity and
Peace Soccer Competition she organised at Samaru/
Kataf in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of
Kaduna state.
While presenting the trophy to Unguwar Rimi Ward
Football Club, winners at the competition, she said
the essence of the tournament was to promote peace
and unity, especially, amongst youths.
The minister said as the general election was barely
24 hours away, youths should conduct themselves in
a responsible manner and avoid tendencies capable
of breaching public peace.
"I want to implore our youths to ensure the
protection and sanctity of our environment by being
peace ambassadors.
"Let us collectively guard against any element of
violence and ensure a peaceful, free and fair polls,"
she said.
Mallam urged youths to support the present
administration, saying that President Goodluck
Jonathan's transformation agenda was aimed at
guaranteeing better living standard for Nigerians.
