Community, Delta state, reportedly committed
suicide on Monday after she was jilted by her
fiancee of three years.
Leadership Newspaper reports that Egoli killed
herself when it became clear to her that her
fiancé had gotten married to another girl in Lagos.
Police Public Relations officer in the State, DSP
Celestina Kalu who confirmed the incident, said
the girl, a graduate of Economics from the
University of Benin, had been waiting for her man
for about three years in Asaba.
She said that the girl was found dead in her room
the following day after she and her parents had
retired to bed. Particles of drugs were said to be
found on her.
Her corpse has been sent for autopsy.
A family member who spoke to the newspaper,
Mrs. Mabel Egbeide, said she had complained
bitterly about the story of the fiancé marrying
another girl in Lagos but her fears were dismissed
before she went ahead to take her life.
