Worried by the continued closure of their
school, students of the Lagos State University, Ojo,
yesterday appealed to Governor Babatunde Fashola
to reopen the institution.
The students' position came one month and six days
after the management of the institution, in a
statement titled "Election recess," asked the students
and workers to vacate the university premises
starting from March 25th, 2015, adding that the
resumption date will be announced later.
The students, in a statement made available to
Vanguard and signed by the Public Relations Officer
of the Lagos State University Students' Union, Mr.
Adebanjo Fatai, lamented that the state government
and the varsity management was not ready to reopen
the school as they have treated reopening of the
institution with levity.
Fatai said that rather than reopening the institution
for the commencement of academic activities, the
institution management went online to publish an
article, "Declared recess is still very much in force."
He added "The students' Union of LASU respectfully
assert that the online bulletin released by LASU
Management shows how irrational and reckless the
Management is towards the reopening of LASU.
"The love of LASUites is never in the heart of the
Management as we can deduce that the management
and the state government are not ready to reopen
the school."
