9 month old baby kidnapped by neighbour who was later arrested

2 minors Racheal John, and Joy Atunramu, have both
been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for
allegedly kidnapping their neighbour's 9 month old
baby over vengeance vowed by Rachel.

The baby was said to have been taken from the
mother's shop at the Old Toll gate area of the town
by Atunramu, allegedly acting on the instructions of
John.

"Investigation revealed that the suspect had a conflict
with the mother of the baby before the baby was
stolen. "She wrote a letter with the promise to deal
with the mother of the baby.

The state police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said
the police swung into action immediately after the
mother of the baby rushed to the police station to
report her missing infant.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said,
John was apprehended and arrested with the baby at
the Ogbere area of Ijebu.
He said, "The mother did not know who actually stole
the baby, but neighbours and some eyewitnesses,
who saw the suspect with the baby alerted the
mother and the police detectives before the arrest of
the suspects.

"It was also gathered that the suspect (John) allegedly
demanded the sum of N2m as ransom before she
would release the baby."

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday by
detectives attached to the Ilese Police Division, Ijebu
Ode.
